Your body
is doing
everything.

Pregnancy changes the body in ways that most exercise programs are not equipped to address. The shift in center of gravity, the softening of ligaments, the demands on the pelvic floor and deep core — these are not problems to be avoided. They are physiological realities to be worked with, intelligently.

Classical Pilates on the Gratz apparatus is uniquely suited to prenatal and postnatal work because of the apparatus itself. The springs provide support and resistance simultaneously — allowing a pregnant body to access exercises and positions that would be impossible or unsafe on a mat. The Cadillac, in particular, offers positions and support unavailable anywhere else.

“The work doesn’t stop when you become pregnant. It adapts. And when it adapts intelligently, it prepares your body for labor, for recovery, and for every physical demand that comes with raising a child.”

Julie holds AFAA Pre & Postnatal Exercise Certification and YogaFit Prenatal Certification, alongside 30 years of working with pregnant and postpartum bodies. She understands the phases, the contraindications, and the enormous range of what each individual body needs — at each individual stage.

Where you
are right now.

01

First & Second Trimester

Prenatal Pilates

The first and second trimesters are the time to build the strength, stability, and body awareness that will support the rest of your pregnancy and your labor. Classical Pilates adapts to your changing body while maintaining the rigor that produces real results.

  • Pelvic floor activation and awareness
  • Deep core stability as the center shifts
  • Spinal support for the growing belly
  • Hip and glute strength for labor preparation
  • Breath work for labor and delivery
02

Third Trimester

Labor preparation

The third trimester is about preparation. The classical apparatus — particularly the Cadillac and Reformer — provides positions and movements that support the body as it prepares for labor, without compression or strain.

  • Modified work accommodating the full belly
  • Opening and releasing the pelvis
  • Stamina and endurance for labor
  • Managing the physical demands of late pregnancy
  • Nervous system regulation and breath
03

Postpartum — 6 weeks onward

Postnatal recovery

Postpartum recovery is not about “bouncing back.” It is about rebuilding — intelligently, from the inside out, at the pace your body actually requires. Classical Pilates is one of the most effective postnatal rehabilitation practices available.

  • Pelvic floor rehabilitation — diastasis recti addressed
  • Deep core reconnection before surface strengthening
  • C-section scar tissue and recovery work
  • Postural restoration after pregnancy and nursing
  • Gradual, sustainable return to full practice

Real benefits.
At every stage.

P

Pelvic floor intelligence

The pelvic floor is not just something to Kegel. Classical Pilates develops the integrated, responsive pelvic floor function that supports pregnancy, aids labor, and rebuilds effectively postpartum — including for clients with diastasis recti or pelvic floor dysfunction.

C

Core that actually works

Not crunches. Not planks. The deep stabilizing system — the muscles that support the spine and pelvis through pregnancy and continue working for the rest of your life. Classical Pilates develops this from the inside out, in a way that is safe at every stage.

B

Back pain relief

Lower back pain is one of the most common complaints of pregnancy — and one of the most responsive to intelligent movement. The classical system’s emphasis on spinal support and hip strength addresses the structural causes, not just the symptoms.

R

Recovery that lasts

The goal of postnatal work is not to look like you did before pregnancy. It is to build a body that is stronger, more stable, and more resilient than before — one that will carry you through the physical demands of parenthood for years to come.

A note on safety and medical clearance

All prenatal and postnatal clients are asked to provide medical clearance from their OB, midwife, or physician before beginning or continuing a Pilates practice with us. Julie works in close coordination with your healthcare team and will communicate openly about any modifications or contraindications specific to your situation. Postpartum clients are typically cleared to begin gentle work after their 6-week check — though this varies and individual guidance always takes precedence. When in doubt, we consult with your provider first.
