About Endurance Pilates and Yoga

Endurance Pilates and Yoga is a Pilates studio based in Boston’s South End, founded in 2009 by movement educator Julie Erickson. The studio focuses on Pilates-based movement instruction with an emphasis on thoughtful teaching, individualized care, and long-term physical health.

Our Story

Endurance Pilates and Yoga was established after years of teaching Pilates, yoga, and fitness throughout the greater Boston area in a wide range of settings, including studios, gyms, corporate offices, and community programs. That early work shaped the studio’s foundation: adaptable, client-centered movement guided by experience rather than trends.

Julie Erickson began her career in fitness while in college and formally entered the wellness field in 1995. More than three decades later, she continues to bring that accumulated knowledge to her work with clients in Boston and online. What began as a mobile practice has grown into a studio serving individuals seeking Pilates-based movement instruction that supports strength, mobility, and sustainability over time.

Endurance Pilates and Yoga offers private Pilates, yoga, general fitness, and mindfulness sessions in Boston’s South End, providing one-on-one movement instruction designed around the individual.

Founder

Julie Erickson is a Pilates instructor and entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in movement, fitness, and wellness education. She is a third-generation classical Pilates instructor and holds an MBA in addition to extensive training in Pilates, yoga, and related movement disciplines.

Her background combines movement education, business leadership, and long-term work with a diverse client population, including endurance athletes, runners, performers, and individuals recovering from injury. Erickson founded Endurance Pilates and Yoga to create a space where movement is taught with precision, respect for individual history, and attention to long-term outcomes rather than short-term intensity.

Approach

Endurance Pilates and Yoga emphasizes Pilates-based movement instruction informed by biomechanics, experience, and individual needs. Sessions are designed to support strength, mobility, coordination, and confidence in movement, with an emphasis on sustainability rather than quick results.

Instruction is tailored to each client and may incorporate classical Pilates principles, strength training, and therapeutic movement approaches depending on goals and physical history. This approach is carried most directly through private Pilates sessions, where instruction can be fully adapted to the individual.

Experience and Recognition

Over the years, Endurance Pilates and Yoga and its founder have been featured in regional and national media for work in Pilates, rehabilitation-informed movement, and fitness education. Coverage has included reporting in The Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, and The Cut, reflecting the studio’s long-standing role in the Boston movement community.
